What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness has gotten a lot of hype in recent years.
In a nutshell, Mindfulness is the act of paying attention to your present-moment experience with an attitude of compassion, curiosity, and non-judgement.
I view Mindfulness as an essential, deeply practical, and accessible tool that can provide the conditions for improved management of emotions, a richer sense of meaning in life, greater self-awareness, increased capacity for focus, and much more.
In a world where there is a constant battle for our attention, developing tools (like Mindfulness) to aim for greater attention sovereignty is crucial for protecting meaning and connection to our finite days.

About the Course
There are so many outlets out there to learn about and practice mindfulness.
This course is unique in that it is trauma-informed and learned, practiced, and explored with other humans in real time.
It is taught by a human who genuinely cares about your wellbeing (and who also happens to be a licensed therapist).
What to Expect
Meets once a week for 1 hour and 15 minutes, for 4 weeks
Includes a minimum of 3 people with up to 10 per group (can be flexible)
Past groups have included family members learning together, friends exploring together, and humans developing skills in the community
Each class includes
A short teaching portion (including the science behind the impact and mechanisms of Mindfulness)
A mindfulness skill and meditation to learn and practice
Open reflection and group discussion (exploring and learning in community is vital)
The course includes
A wonderful, practical book that goes along with the course
An app with all practices and meditations that you keep indefinitely
Assigned reading and practice reinforced through the app
In-app feedback from me as you log observations between classes

Who would benefit?
Many people find deep benefit in the practice of mindfulness, and the research supports its value across a wide range of lived experiences. While there are many, some of these include:
Finding greater ease in the presence of stress, anxiety, and worry
Deepening presence and reconnecting to a felt sense of meaning in life
Improving focus and the capacity to work with attention
Growing in acceptance of what lies beyond our control
Cultivating qualities of compassion, gratitude, and wonder
Approaching what is difficult with greater intention and care
And yet, like all tools, it is not a panacea.
It will not be the right fit for everyone, and that is okay.
Turning inward can bring awareness to uncomfortable internal experiences. For those who have not yet had the opportunity to explore how to be present with those experiences safely, mindfulness may not yet feel like a supportive place to begin. There is a lot of strength in knowing our current limits.
While this course is not a therapy group and will not ask you to elicit uncomfortable internal experiences, that does not mean they won't arise, and it is normal to feel some discomfort in learning something new. Some find immense value in growing their edge in a group setting, while others find it more supportive to begin alongside a licensed therapist.
